When I got my 1988 SurfJet a little over a year ago, I thought it was the coolest toy out there. The SurfJet is basically a surfboard with an outboard motor attached to the back. It pushes you through the water with a fire engine pump. You laugh but it gets me all the ladies. During the summer, I take it out any chance I get. Whenever I go, I always draw a crowd. People stop what they are doing to see what exactly it is I’m riding. From far away, people tell me I look like I’m walking on the water. When I pull it up on the beach, I get all the questions: What is it? Is it easy to ride? How fast does it go? It’s really easy; my girlfriend got right up on the first time and she loves it. Everyone wants one but when I tell them that they are no longer made, they are a little disappointed but then I kept telling everyone that they are coming out with something new – the PowerSki.

The PowerSki is the updated, high performance version of the SurfJet. Instead of putting around in the wakes of boats, I’ll be passing them on the PowerSki. The sleek look and high-speed maneuverability of the PowerSki will make peoples’ jaws drop. When I first saw the PowerSki on the Northeast PowerSki website, I was in awe; I definitely think that this is the toy of the future. I couldn’t wait to see it at the Mid-Atlantic Boat Show. When I showed up and saw it in person, I just said to myself that this is one bad machine. I met Jim and George and they were just as excited as I was about this board. They kindly invited me to the first testing and I couldn’t wait to go. I had a huge smile on my face for the rest of the weekend.

On Monday, when we got to the marina, we fired it up and I hopped on it and took off. I jumped right up and went – it was so easy. It’s a lot more stable compared to my outdated SurfJet. The PowerSki is twice as fast as my SurfJet and it slices through the waves like a boat instead of skipping on top like my SurfJet. The PowerSki carves through the water like my snowboard does on a mountain. I felt like I could not flip this thing over – the harder I turned, the more it grabbed. The engine on the PowerSki reminds me of a chromed out Harley Davidson when compared to my SurfJet that has about a lawn mower engine.

I think the PowerSki is the next generation of personal watercrafts. It’s going to blow the JetSki business out of the water. All it takes is one ride and you’re hooked. It’s really easy too for beginners and as you get better, you can do more moves and tricks. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to have fun!
